Green Tree Garden Supply
Ithaca, N.Y.

At GreenTree Garden Supply we believe soil matters and is at the heart of life and central to fighting climate change.

GreenTree is a manufacturer and distributor of horticultural media and soil amendments and supplies for controlled environment agriculture. We apply science to crafting quality, organic and sustainable growing media tailored to meet the needs of any grower.

We focus on using high quality, sustainable materials in our blends, including biochar. Our carefully controlled process creates biologically active, nutrient-rich base that is at the heart of our premium blends. Biochar optimizes the physical, biological and chemical characteristics of our soils.

Based in Ithaca, NY, and owned by soil scientist John Gaunt, GreenTree’s team is proud to be a part of the biochar community, fighting climate change and bringing real benefits to gardeners and farmers across the Northeast and beyond. www.greentreesoil.com

Full Circle Biochar

Full Circle Biochar (FCB) is a California based company innovating and commercializing profitable biochar products in key agricultural systems and soil regeneration markets around the globe. FCB’s focus is on converting low value biomass feedstocks into high value climate smart engineered biochar soils and soil amendments.

FCB was founded on the thesis that biochar is a critical technology to mitigate ongoing climate disruption. Using photosynthesis to drawdown existing atmospheric carbon stocks and converting subsequent biomass to biochar, it is expected that soil-based carbon sequestration on the order of gigatons is possible.

FCB recognizes that successful scaling of biochar requires that products provide consistent agronomic attributes. To that end, FCB designed a pyrolysis kiln with substantial process control to develop biochar from diverse feedstocks. FCB partnered with Cornell University to manufacture and deploy the FCB Biochar Product Development Kiln. Installed at the Leland Laboratory, the Cornell Pyrolysis Kiln is an important next step to advance biochar into commercial markets.

FCB has been awarded a suite of patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) that formalize biochar product development strategies and methods. FCB’s IP is monetized via licensing agreements and joint ventures with feedstock suppliers, biochar manufacturing project developers, and biochar product innovators. With our IP licensee partners bio365 and GreenTree, FCB is deploying products into high value markets in the United States to accelerate adoption of biochar into large scale agriculture.

Biomass Controls

Biomass Controls provides decentralized rapid nutrient recovery and treatment for green resources including, manure, textiles, food and excreta.

Biomass Controls PBC was founded in 2015 in Putnam, Connecticut as part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Re-Invented Toilet ChallengeBiomass Controls patents are based on protecting the environment and returning nutrients to the soil. Our Biogenic Refinery provides thermochemical treatment of high moisture materials such as manures, human excreta, agriculture residues and food waste. Our services provide Design, Technology Adoption Support, and Impact Measurement.

In 2018 we were chosen to participate in the Toilet Accelerator program and in 2019 we were selected to participate in the Cohort Council. The members of the Toilet Board Coalition believe that by accelerating the Sanitation Economy they will deliver significant impact to business and society. The sponsors of this event include UnileverKimberly ClarkVeoliaWater.orgUSAID and unicef.

In 2019 we were chosen to participate in the Manure Challenge Accelerator program. The Manure Challenge guides startups with solutions that enable economically and environmentally superior manure management practices on an expedited path to market. The sponsors of this event include Cargill, the Maschhoffs and WeWork Food Labs.
